Community Aid was constituted in 1986. At the time the ‘Project’ had a wide brief and was based in three buildings in Eastern Enfield. In the beginning the following services were set up:
- A daily after-school club for children
- Services for the Elderly
- Information, Advocacy and Guidance sessions
- Outreach work aimed at isolated Asian Women
- One-off events and outings
The first Management Committee of Community Aid included a representative from Social Services, a representative from Housing, a representative from Enfield’s Community Relations Council, The Borough industrial Chaplain, the chair of the local Alzheimer’s Disease Society and other local individuals.
